The Meaning of Reproductive Justice
The term Reproductive Justice has its origins in the Women of Color Collective Sistersong who define it as “the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe sustainable communities. Sistersong felt that the dominant paradigm of “pro-choice” was too limited and did not meet the needs of women of color, working class women or the LGBTQ+ community. Unitarian Universalism has embraced the term but may not have fully understood the meaning behind it. This worship service will explore how Wildflower and our wider Unitarian Universalism can engage the full meaning of Reproductive Justice as better allies to this important cause.
