The Color of Racism: White Supremacy in Unitarian Universalism
Wildflower has established multiculturalism as a goal for our religious community. Many in our community have been actively engaged in anti-racism and anti-oppression work which has led us to analyze how white supremacy influences structures within our church. Within the last few weeks concerns have been raised about white supremacy in hiring practices of our Unitarian Universalism.
As a consequence our Unitarian Universalist leaders who identify as people of color have called on our congregations to have a White Supremacy Teach-In. The purpose is to help our religious communities understand the pervasiveness of racism and the destruction it inflicts on our society. This worship service will explore white supremacy and how the resulting racism impacts us as individuals, as church communities and in our wider culture.
