For this week’s class, our elementary group explored our 7th UU Principle: We believe in caring for our planet Earth and all living things. We began by brainstorming ways that we are all part of the interconnected web of life and the ways that we can communicate with the non-human creatures in our world. Then, we listened to a folk tale where a mother tells her son that when you hurt one living being, you hurt all of nature. After discussing how that could be true for us in our lives, we got the chance to observe and interact with some non-human creatures: rats! These incredibly tame rats were able to communicate with us through their body language and we all enjoyed holding & petting them.

The youth group focused on connection & community with a group discussion of art and a game.
