Creating a Relationship with Vulnerability

Buddhist author Pema Chodron notes that vulnerability is “the category of things that, if we move toward them, have so much to teach us. Having a relationship with vulnerability, with things falling apart, is a life changer.” As we open up to emotional exposure, uncertainty and risk, we can open up a path for our continued exploration, growth, and learning. For some this may bring the risk of further oppression and emotional pain; for others the admission of imperfection, shame, and guilt. As we deepen our relationships with one another in the “brave spaces we create,” we can begin to navigate these risks and feel the freedom to fully breathe again. Are there times when having a relationship with vulnerability has made a significant difference in your life, when taking a risk has opened up new pathways for you? Join us this Sunday as Susie Epstein, Paula Vaughan, and Tomas Rodriguez share their stories. Children and youth in grades pre-k through 12th will be meeting in person in their classes after being present in the sanctuary for the first part of the service. The nursery is available for babies and children from 6 weeks to 5 years old during the entire service period. You may choose either option for your child if they are 4.5 or 5 years old. After the service, we'll have a Team Fair in the Community Room so you can learn all about the different ways to help out at Wildflower!
