Austin Community Resource List

Unfortunately, Texas rejected the Medicaid expansion in 2012, which means it’s a rough place to apply for national healthcare if you don’t have some income. But support systems do exist, especially in Travis County. Since we’re in Tejas, most social services will speak both Spanish and English. Many of these services are coming from faith communities… you do not have to have any particular faith affiliation to access these services, and nobody should tell you otherwise. Publishing this list is not a guarantee of the kindness of people, usefulness or appropriateness of services to individuals. We hope it will be helpful.

If you have suggestions/corrections for this list, please email webmaster@wildflowerchurch.org.

The campaign provides a number of tools on how to spot a mental health issue, how to start the conversation, and how to access resources in Austin and Travis County. Organizers hope this initiative will help lower the negative stigma that is still associated with mental health and help families foster a safe environment to discuss such sensitive topics.
