Sunday Service
Zoom Only Service
Sunday, June 08 at 11:45 am
Equity
|
|
|
During this worship service, we reflect on our UU shared value of Equity. We declare that every person is inherently worthy and has the right to flourish with dignity, love, and compassion.
Each week, from June 1st through August 31st, the theme of our stories and music-filled services will reflect one of our UU Shared Values: Interdependence, Pluralism, Justice, Transformation, Generosity, Equity, with Love at the center of them all. Our summer services have a noticeably different intergenerational feel, with moments for journaling and self-reflection, inspired by and guided by our Time for All Ages story and special music meant to deepen our connection with the shared value of the day. (TFAA and music are our summer sermons.). Join us Sunday on Zoom
Since this is a Zoom-only service. There will be no children's and youth religious education classes.

Climate Education: Bill McKibben on Our Secret Weapon
Sunday, June 8 at 9 am via Zoom
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/2635700913?pwd=bjNxMEczWHU2bUp3dXpEcVRXWjhRUT09
Meeting ID: 263 570 0913 Passcode: 002030
In this recent presentation, Back to the Wall, Face to the Sun, at the Bioneers Conference on March 29, Bill McKibben explains that we’re at a dire point in the human story, with temperatures higher than they’ve been in 125,000 years. But--we have one secret weapon: the sudden and rapid drop in the price of energy from the sun. McKibben explains that we have a fleeting chance for a truly transformative reorientation of the way our world works…but we will need everyone to make it happen. And, he introduces an exciting new catalyzing event to occur in September on the Equinox.
Bill McKibben, author, educator, and leading activist, is one of the earliest to warn of the risks of climate change decades ago and (in the Bioneer’s view) the most impactful climate activist of our era.
If anyone would like to watch this video ahead of class, or anytime, here is the link: https://youtu.be/Dsfif_s57bg?si=KzziLR2q3XQMLd3c (18 mins.)
As always, we'll reserve plenty of time for discussion and sharing. The WildEarth Climate Action Team offers class on most second Sundays at 9am.

News from the Disability Team
NEW: QR ZOOM Code for In-Person Services and Reserved Aisle Seating
Beginning this month, The Disability Advisory Team, working alongside Facilities and the Worship Team, has begun offering another option for those who have difficulty hearing in-person services. You will need to use your own earbuds and/or hearing aids in order to use your personal device without disturbing others. You can also use your personal device in order to see the Closed Captioning up close. A few AISLE SEATS are now RESERVED for anyone needing an easier way to sit down - and get back up - without having to climb over anyone. Who is this for?? Anyone who needs this!
Questions or comments for Wildflower's Disability Advisory Team??

Austin Youth River Watch Volunteers Needed
Austin Youth River Watch is looking for volunteers to help with meal deliveries to their students and families. The commitment is about 4 hours on Fridays starting between 10am-2pm (depending on your availability). You'll pick up meals at Cook's Nook in East Austin and deliver them to student's homes. Please fill out our Volunteer Meal Delivery Driver Form and Emma Walsh will reach out to you afterwards to go over the details.
Why We Need Your Help
Food security remains a concern for many of the students we work with. Each year, we hear from students who do not have consistent access to nutritious food. That's where our meal delivery program comes in!
For the past four years, our staff has been handling the delivery routes, but as our program grows, we’re hoping some of our awesome supporters (like you!) can step in to help out. This would really ease the load on our team and keep this program running smoothly.

Support our local CDF Freedom School in East Austin: Volunteers Needed
|
|
|
Volunteers at CDF Freedom Schools® Austin. The 12th summer of Freedom Schools Austin is right around the corner. Scholars, staff, caregivers and community come together June 16-July 25, 2025. The fun and inspiration lead to real impact; last year, scholars gained 13 months of reading level in just 6 weeks time. Volunteers play a critical role in the Freedom Schools community.
Backstage volunteers help behind the scenes, with tasks like move-in and move-out, transforming spaces to be most conducive to learning and inspiration,
preparing activities and supplies, and organizing the library and office.
On-site volunteers complete background check and specialized training to help greet scholars, keep meal times on task, read with scholars one-on-one or in small groups, help with afternoon activities and games, and chaperone field trips.
Questions? Email hello@welcometableaustin.org or text 512-879-9795.
