CrafterChurch - Building Community
This Sunday, join us for a crafting-centered community service. We’ll meet from 10:30-12:30 in the Community Room (the sanctuary is being renovated) to craft, drink coffee, and enjoy time together. You can bring your own craft - if you're not currently working on anything, we'll have supplies for all. A casual worship service will start at 11:45, featuring a time for all ages and small group discussions. If you would like to participate remotely, we will have Zoom going throughout this time.
After CrafterChurch concludes, we’ll have sandwiches for lunch, followed by the reporting session and conversation led by our conflict transformation consultant, Rockie Gonzalez.
CrafterChurch Leaders: The Wildflower Spiritual Life Team
Children and youth in kindergarten through 12th grade will be a part of this intergenerational experience and will not be meeting in their classes.
Reporting Session and Conversation with Our Consultant
As our consultant, Rockie Gonzalez, finishes up individual and group interviews with Wildflowers this week, we are moving into the next phase of our work with her. Our conversation this Sunday, May 31 from 1:30 - 4 pm will focus on Rockie’s initial observations and how we make sense of those as a congregation. The goals of the time together are to understand the main themes that have emerged and to begin discussing those observations together. We will spend time in a large group and time in smaller discussion groups as well.
Joining in person is preferred and Zoom attendance is available for any who need or want this option. Zoom Link: https://zoom.us/j/95255929970pwd=RjI2VCtOWExwT01ib1dDUHFXbjVsdz09)
(same as the one for CrafterChurch - usual service link)
Please RSVP so we can plan for this part of the day.
In May and June, our spiritual life theme is Sacred Trust.
It is difficult to understand how to trust without a supportive spiritual life. Sacred trust begins with having faith in our sources of spiritual nourishment. In Unitarian Universalism, we recognize sources that include sacred texts, a range of spiritual practices, scientific investigation, and ongoing direct revelation of the divine mystery we share.
Trust does not exist in a vacuum; rather, it is an engaging act of commitment that helps us imagine how to work together. The practice of sacred trust, extended from moment to moment rather than granted wholesale and then revoked, helps to break down our attachments to binary outcomes and all-or-nothing ways of thinking about others. It is faith that gives us the courage to be present together in the unknown. When people of faith practice being vulnerable with each other to ask for what we need, good friends listen and respond by taking those needs into account. When we have the capacity, we change what we do so that we can meet our friends’ needs.

Celebrating Sonia June 7th!
On Sunday, June 7th, we will be saying goodbye to Sonia. As a way to thank her for all she has done during her time here, we would love for people of all ages to make or bring cards for her. We would especially love for the children to draw pictures or write her little notes. We are also collecting money to give her as a gift to help with her move back to California.
If you would like to contribute, you can Venmo me at @Laura-Miller-1039. Thank you so much to all of you who have donated already and thank you for helping us celebrate Sonia by sending her off with love! |

June Group Hike returns to the Violet Crown Trail on Saturday, 6/20
This month we’ll be starting at the 360 entrance and making our way up towards Zilker Park. This is an easy-moderately difficulty trail with some rocky areas; children and leashed dogs are welcome!

Call for Nominations to the Board of Trustees
At our congregational meeting on June 14th, we will elect four new members to the Board of Trustees. These servant leaders, along with the three current trustees who will retain their roles, are charged with managing the business, property, and affairs of the Church in a 2-year term that will begin July 1st.
We are so excited about the future of Wildflower, and know there are so many incredible people in our congregation with talents to offer.
If you have any interest at all in serving Wildflower in this capacity, Samantha & Shiloh are open and available for conversation. Please reach out when you see them or by emailing nominating@wildflowerchurch.org

Everyone is invited to the Central Texas Interfaith Leaders Retreat, Saturday, June 6th at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church! Our focus is on the challenges facing our institutions, our city and our state in this politically divisive time. What is the power behind our politics? And how can we become a diverse, power organization with the power to respond? How we can talk to each other in these politically divisive times? Specific topics include an analysis of the political state of our city, a look at the repercussions of Austin's 1928 master plan that are still affecting us today, what's behind the mass detentions of immigrants, and the money behind immigrant detention centers. It will be well worth your time on a Saturday to attend!

Explore Camp Wildflower Roots
Camp Wildflower Roots has reserved space in our Community Room for their Innagural Summer Day Camp for children and youth ages 8-13. Shannon Mercer is a special education teacher and UU living in the area. She and other teachers are launching this camp and describe it as “creating an inclusive, welcoming space where all youth — especially queer youth — feel safe, supported, and free to be themselves. Living in Texas can feel especially hard right now, and kids need affirming community more than ever.” The camp website [https://www.campwildflowerroots.org/] offers a way to register for the camp (June 8-12, 22-26). Shannon would love to have Wildflowers or others we tell about the camp be a part of this experience. |
