Summer 2008
K-6
Each week kids “tour” a different country, learning about the culture, religions and history through stories and pictures, ritual and spiritual practice, music and dance, arts and crafts, games and activities, costumes and pictures. Learning is limited only by the imagination.
Volunteer congregation members and families, called “Tour Guides”, are invited to plan and lead a Sunday tour, sharing their knowledge of a country and its’ religions, bringing to the “travelers” their own experiences, enthusiasm, and maybe even special “show and tell” items they’ve collected. Since food is always a fun way to experience culture, they are invited to bring “ethnic snacks” that carry out the theme.
Each Sunday kids stamp their “passports” with a flag sticker of the country they’ve visited. At the end of the summer they can take their passport home to remind them of their travels.
All classes are held at SASAC during the summer. Two classes are held at the Starbright Pre-school across the parking lot from September to May.

Storytime
Summer 2008
Pre-Kindergarten
The pre-k
class will enjoy a summer curriculum titled “Story Time.” A teacher will begin
the class with a popular storybook and then lead the kids in activities related
to the story. The class will be combined in the childcare room. Hannah and
Katie will continue to provide care for the little ones while the older kids
can participate in Story Time or free play.
The
middle school and high school classes will not meet in June or July. Classes
and meetings will resume in August.
